Hello Everyone! Thank you for keeping up with my Art and supporting me!
Still, I am inspired by my trip to Ireland and Scotland! Cliff Side Cottage is another modern landscape inspired by both places. Rock walls, rolling hills and cottages by the sea, so beautiful and peaceful. I started this piece with an outline of where I wanted the subject. The cliffs had to have a little more detail as they were beginning to look like large rectangular buildings looming over the cottage. I added some detail and dimension, and they came to life as cliffs! A large cliff in the distance, partially shrouded in fog; a slice of blue sky is moving in with a promise of a sunny day! As you enter the painting, the windy path takes your eye through the hills down to the deep blue sea. You look around and see a happy cottage nestled into the side of beautiful cliffs. Surrounded by rolling hills in shades of greens and yellows, rock walls and tall grasses blowing in the breeze, the foliage is so green and beautiful! You want to stay awhile! Thank you!

Hello Everyone! I am back from my trip and ready to blog again!
England, Scotland and Ireland have the most beautiful countryside. Bucolic, I would say! I took many photos to inspire me when I got back to the states and I finished one today and began another! I am filled with ideas and inspiration! This piece is a Pastoral Landscape from Scotland and Ireland. Abstract, acrylic on a 24X36 canvas. I started with painting in a blue sky and used black paint to outline the different sections for the crops. The bright yellow sections, is a plant grown for their seeds and is such a beautiful, vibrant color. It was everywhere. I added some trees up on the hill and made one section a little more jagged. A red purple creek perhaps? The greens and golden yellows are so vibrant up against the red purple section as the sunlight streams over the hillside, very peaceful. I had to add one last detail, sheep! Sheep are everywhere there and are so beautiful! I loved painting this vibrant piece and and more is on the way! Please check back again soon! Thank you! Hello and thank you for visiting my website and keeping up with my Blog and my work!
If any of you live in the Chicagoland area, specifically the western suburbs, DuPage Art League in Wheaton, will be holding a month-long art show beginning May 1st. My work, as well as many local artists will have many pieces of art to stop by and check out. The pricing is very reasonable as well! We even have the front window to showcase all of our art! I wanted to share and talk about this particular piece. It is a very old piece that I did in high school when I did abstract art often. I looked back on this piece and remember; the idea came to me and I sketched it out and then wondered if it should be on canvas and oil paints or paper and oil pastels. It turned out to be the latter. I have been wondering, if I can capture this piece today on canvas, and I will give it a try soon! It is not a total abstract piece, but it is a piece that has always made me happy. Today in art class, I tried a total abstract painting. It was not easy for me, but I walked away when I wanted to make the water flowing look like water! When I came back to it, I stopped overthinking every single detail, and just let my imagination go. Just because I chose blue, doesn’t mean it is water! Every time I stopped and stood back from the canvas, I thought it looked pretty ok, but still resisted. And with that said, my instructor said it was my best work he has seen from me this year and wanted it in the May 1st show! Again, it is an abstract class, but yet for some reason my art always looks like something! Maybe today was a breakthrough?! I will keep you posted! |
