Hi Everyone, Thank you for checking in with me this week! It has been a very busy month! I am working on challenging myself with different themes and and genres of art. This blog is about Tango Argentine, a dance piece I began as abstract which quickly became representational!
I have shied away from painting faces and people and I am not sure why?! My art became more about landscapes, which I love to do, but as I said, this year is about challenges. I sketched out the dancers and I knew it was going to be a Tango dance. I was not sure if it would be in a club or the streets, but just let my imagination go and I found myself painting the dancers in a dance studio in the middle of a city, on the top floor! Stone walls, large windows with the city lights gleaming through the panes, the dancers are perfectly poised mid move. Simple, but also very intense! This piece will be on website very soon! A few of you asked if I am still doing commissioned work and yes I am! Thank you!

Thanks for checking in with me this week! My latest commissioned piece was completed and delivered and my client loved it!
I started with the basics, perspective and sky. This was a big canvas so, it is important to get that correct! The sky changed as well as the water, as I felt it needed more light. Once I achieved the desired light, I began to pull out the highlights in sky, mountains and water. The rocks in the foreground and sand area were also defined. The reflections in the sunrise on the water seemed off at first, and then I made a change. The reflection became much broader and lit up the sail on the boat. This piece was a lot of work and had many changes until it became the piece I imagined it to be, as did my client! Which, always makes me a happy artist! |
