Hi Everyone, Thanks for checking in this week!
Stormy Skies over Park Slope is a wrap! I added tree branches in the foreground, buildings and another lamppost in the background for perspective. The foreground trees and shrubs were highlighted and filled in. The building to the left now has some windows and texture to its facade. The sky was a labor of love, but I think it was worth the layers of work! The walk home from a summers evening dinner out, impending storm rolling in and your footsteps get just a bit quicker to out race the rain and duck for cover. This piece is on its way to its owner in Park Slope!

Hi Everyone! Thank you for checking in with me! I am currently working on another commissioned piece. This time I am off to Park Slope Brooklyn. My client had taken several pictures of a storm rolling in. The clouds were all shades of white and grays and even a touch of lavender.
I started this piece with light and dark gray clouds. I added buildings and a lamppost. I then added the tree top’s as well as shaded the clouds with some blues and lavender to give the clouds more depth. It is beginning to look like a stormy sky! Stay tuned! More to come! Thank you for your interest in my work and blog! Thanks for checking in this week!
When I was packing for vacation, I decided to pack my art supplies. I could not imagine not creating art for two whole weeks! I also decided to try oil pastels as I had not used these in many years. I had forgotten how incredibly beautiful they are! The colors are so easy to blend and are so rich in color. I had been inspired by a photo of a friend of mine took while on her morning run. It was a pond that she has jogged by many times. That particular day, she had to stop and snap a photo and take a moment to see the beauty of it all. The water had reflections of blue skies, green grasses, and leaves. It also had branches from the trees above, wildflowers, and the sunlight dancing of the water. I could not stop thinking about it and this is my interpretation of her photo. I call it Morning Run Pond. Beauty truly is all around us every single day! |
