Hello! Thank you for checking in with me!
I have been a painting machine this past week! So many ideas, all in bright bold colors in contemporary art. My Abstract Art classes have really helped me loosen up my strokes, and therefore a new style has emerged! The first painting I completed, began last week born out of inspiration from my Ireland and Scotland trip. It is 18x24 acrylic on board. The fields are so beautiful there and the hills beyond, equally so. I had to stop myself from putting sheep in this one! Rolling green hills, patches of wildflowers and tall grasses in beautiful shades of green. Giant light green flowers invite you into this piece. A stream wanders through, flanked by a carpet of flowers, leading up to the base of the mountains. The blue mountains meet the pink sunset sky, leaving you to wonder what is beyond. The second Painting is a floral abstract. 18x24 acrylic on board. Bold color and in contemporary style. I started with greens, lots of different greens, my favorite color! I added blues for water and then a few reflections. The flowers came next and I chose to keep them somewhat loose and free. I added tendril’s, stalks and other grasses. I stepped back a lot in this piece to make sure it was not getting too detailed! It was fun to paint and to just let go of the rules! Thank you for reading and supporting my work!

Hello and Thank You for reading today!
I am very excited to share with you that I was asked to be part of a competition for my work to be presented in an international Art Magazine! I am one of thousands of artists around the world, competing to be chosen for this amazing opportunity! The most interesting factor is, the painting that got me in this competition? Total Abstract! I was floored. I am happy that I continue to take abstract art workshops/classes to open up my imagination much more!! I had started another abstract piece before I was asked to be in this competition. Here is the work in progress! Much more to do as it has been a busy week, but making progress! Thank you so much for supporting my art and Blogs!! Hello and Thank You for checking in with me today!
Giving myself a challenge this past week, I kept this landscape totally abstract! Pulling myself away from the piece often to keep the detail minimal, was a challenge! I think I’m getting better at challenges! Sunset, started off with an asymmetrical sun and the sky behind, lit with brilliant orange yellow. I wanted the colors to be bold and to have contrast, so the sky has many different shapes to discover! Clouds in and sunbeam’s of light, reflecting on the evening sky. The sun’s rays and reflections meet up with a blue lake. Water falls from the ledge, bringing your eye down to see the red, orange rocks and green foliage in the foreground. This piece was fun to paint as I totally let my imagination go! Thank you! |
