Hello and thank you for visiting my website and keeping up with my Blog and my work!
If any of you live in the Chicagoland area, specifically the western suburbs, DuPage Art League in Wheaton, will be holding a month-long art show beginning May 1st. My work, as well as many local artists will have many pieces of art to stop by and check out. The pricing is very reasonable as well! We even have the front window to showcase all of our art! I wanted to share and talk about this particular piece. It is a very old piece that I did in high school when I did abstract art often. I looked back on this piece and remember; the idea came to me and I sketched it out and then wondered if it should be on canvas and oil paints or paper and oil pastels. It turned out to be the latter. I have been wondering, if I can capture this piece today on canvas, and I will give it a try soon! It is not a total abstract piece, but it is a piece that has always made me happy. Today in art class, I tried a total abstract painting. It was not easy for me, but I walked away when I wanted to make the water flowing look like water! When I came back to it, I stopped overthinking every single detail, and just let my imagination go. Just because I chose blue, doesn’t mean it is water! Every time I stopped and stood back from the canvas, I thought it looked pretty ok, but still resisted. And with that said, my instructor said it was my best work he has seen from me this year and wanted it in the May 1st show! Again, it is an abstract class, but yet for some reason my art always looks like something! Maybe today was a breakthrough?! I will keep you posted!
