Thank you for checking back with me this week!
My commissioned piece is complete! This painting was one that I could not put down! Once I added the trees and the their reflection on the canal water, it became clear to me, the time of day was changing to later evening at sunset. I added warm pinks and corals to the sky and reflected those tones on the canal water. The reflection of the clock tower beyond the bridge added to the depth and stillness of the water. The boats and their reflection quietly resting for the night on a still and calm canal. The bicycles propped up on the side of a building and the warm glow of a streetlight makes this Amsterdam Canal neighborhood a place to discover!

Thank you for checking in and reading my blog! I hope to write on a weekly basis, especially when I am working on a piece, so I can take you through the process that I use. With each painting, the process will change. As the painting takes shape, the colors change and the details come to life. My hope is, you will be interested to see the finished canvas!
This particular canvas is a commissioned piece for a client who took a trip to the Netherlands in the springtime. They shared photos for inspiration. At only a few hours in, I have much more work to do. I hope you check in weekly! |
