Hi Everyone, Thanks for checking in with me this week. I have been painting a lot! My goal was to paint my heart away in January and most of February, and I think I am accomplishing that!
I painted Electric City on two consecutive, dreary and cold days. This painting was an idea of a fun, warm, bustling city, ready to live each day to the fullest. So much movement, color and you can almost hear music in the streets! Drenched in the most colorful sunset, it was a fun piece to paint!! It is up on the website and is available. Thank you!

Thanks for checking in with me today! I started my abstract art class and I am loving it! Learning how to free myself from too many details and learning something new from another artist as well! I will blog soon about the work and show you the finished canvases that I am doing in class.
Sunset on Winter Mountain was done over the holiday break when I had an entire weekend to myself. I was very happy to paint all day for 2.5 days with no interruptions. I had the idea of a beautiful snow covered mountain and an icy lake meet up with a brilliant, fiery sunset. This piece has sharp contrast of warm and cool colors that bring the viewer into the scene. The cold icy lake in purples and blues, holds the reflection of the setting sun behind the mountain, bursting with shards of bright light in oranges and yellows shooting up in the sky! I enjoyed painting this piece since I love contrast and color! Happy 2019 everyone!
This year I have decided to continue challenging myself with more abstract work, try my hand at different mediums, and take an art class to brush up on different genres of art. So stay tuned for my explorations! This painting is one that I started before the holidays. I call it, Other World Scape. I just let my imagination go and as you know, I love painting water and sky! I can spend hours on both detailing clouds and the flow and movement of water. I wanted this piece to be moody but not dark. Stormy but with bright skies on the horizon. I started with a river and cliffs. The stormy sky was added and the waterfall was next. The stormy sky and churning sea to the left meets up somewhere below the cliff with calm water and a beautiful sunset off in the distance. Or, will the churning sea and stormy sky take over the calm waters and beautiful sunset ahead? Thanks for checking in with me today! |
