Thanks for checking in with me today! I started my abstract art class and I am loving it! Learning how to free myself from too many details and learning something new from another artist as well! I will blog soon about the work and show you the finished canvases that I am doing in class.
Sunset on Winter Mountain was done over the holiday break when I had an entire weekend to myself. I was very happy to paint all day for 2.5 days with no interruptions. I had the idea of a beautiful snow covered mountain and an icy lake meet up with a brilliant, fiery sunset. This piece has sharp contrast of warm and cool colors that bring the viewer into the scene. The cold icy lake in purples and blues, holds the reflection of the setting sun behind the mountain, bursting with shards of bright light in oranges and yellows shooting up in the sky! I enjoyed painting this piece since I love contrast and color!
