Hi Everyone!
Back to blogging! Pink Peonies are the subject of my latest canvas today. My love of this flower, the Peony, goes back many years. My mother loved them and I always remember them in our garden. They were so big, fluffy and smelled so pretty! So, I have wanted to paint a large canvas filled with them exploding over the frame! I started with stretching and priming my own canvas! While it has been a long time since stretching my own canvases, it was fun to do but also a lot more work than I remember! I painted the background pink and a bit of green for depth. I chose the larger flowers to start with and then painted bulbs and leaves tucked in and out, giving the composition of this painting a free form effect, as if in a natural garden setting. Some flowers facing up, out, and even sideways with their leaves and stems surrounding them. Some in full bloom, a couple of bulbs just starting out and others just unfurling! Thank you for checking in with me today! I hope you love the Pink Peonies as much as I loved painting it! Gina
