A Rainy Walk in Autumn. A walk I took often enough, on a windy dark road, I was always pretty nervous even walking with others. I decided to paint my autumn piece in cloudy skies which is not my norm. I usually create a piece with lots of light from the sun and bright colored leaves. This year, I decided to take a different path, Hungry Hollow Road is gray, wet and chilly.
I started with laying down the perspective of where the road would vanish, trees lines, and then added the details. Tree branches and trunks, leaves on the branches and fallen leaves on the sides of the road. I wanted the leaves to be a bit darker and look wet. But I did decide that the Maple leaves should be bright, as they are in life, wet or dry. The reflections on the road came next as did the wet pavement. I then added the road in the background to show it vanishing into the rain and mist. I leave it to the viewer as to where Hungry Hollow Road will take you. Thanks for checking in with me this week! I have been painting many canvases these past few weeks. Stop by next week for Horizon Road!
