Hello Everyone! Thanks for stopping by! It has been awhile! I have been very busy painting flowers! It was a huge surprise to me that I love painting florals! On large canvases mostly! So today’s blog is about the floral series.
It all started last summer with priming my own canvas and tacking it to a wall. The subject, Peonies, being one of my favorite flowers, came to mind! How to compose this piece was next. I wanted the flowers to be in a garden, random and large, with lots of greenery and leaves in the background. The flowers would pop off the page, facing in different directions. The large blossoms were pink, some lighter and some a bit deeper. I loved painting the layers of petals with all of the shadows and highlights! This piece sold before it was signed! I stretched the canvas on its frame, and so it began! The floral series! Next up, an even larger canvas, white Hydrangeas! This piece also sold very quickly and I felt so inspired to continue on the floral journey! I had so many of you message me to please continue, and so I did. Thank you all for cheering me on! Since then I have completed 5 more florals, one commissioned floral, a couple of landscape pieces and even a few dog portraits! It was a busy fall and winter at Upside Art Gallery! I am very lucky and thank you all! Here are a few that I completed and sold. Some are available to purchase. As always, hop over to my website to get complete details on any of these paintings! www.upsideartgallery.com Thank you! Gina
